The Palestinian Stone House

Unlike all the teenagers of the world, the Palestinian teenagers have no chance to date and go out and have romantic relationship as European American Australian or Asian young people do. To have the opportunity to start their romantic relationship they have to get married, and to do so they have to have a furnished house, for many of them they have to work hard and build their houses by themselves, the hardest thing in that is the quality requirement of the Palestinian house, it must be built of stones to ensure durability and beauty. A high thermal mass stone house is a must for the Palestinian family because people are not familiar with brick houses, for laying the house foundations workers must dig deep until they reach the rock. A slaughter of a sheep is carried out when they reach a solid rock, nowadays the use of stone-cutting machine saves the time and effort of the people, but the machine-cut stones are not as beautiful as the hand-shaped stones.
For this reason the Palestinian families are proud of their houses because they sacrifice a lot in building them, they consider the house as precious as one of their children, A house provides enormous dignity and hope. In fact the house is a living concept for them, for this reason they may suffer slipped disc, resist summer sunburn and work for several years to get their house built, if someone loses his house life wouldn’t have any meaning for him anymore.
In the photo a Palestinian young man shapes the stones of his house in his land, he is excited and engaged in his holy mission, moving the hammer and the chisel as if he is playing the piano. Although this work is a real torture, for the Palestinian young men it is not,.
On the contrary, sitting in their own lands surrounded by their olive trees is a marvellous meditation therupy. a unique feelings of dignity, celebration of achievement and heroic mission that nobody would understand without suffering the Palestinian lifestyle
